Rebluing

Rebluing is more than restoring the color of your gun.  It is a complete overhaul.  We start by completely disassembling the gun.  Then the gun is buffed completely to remove any scratches or rust pits and restoring all corners and edges to "factory new" sharpness.  Then it is polished to a bright luster for better appearance.  The gun is then boiled in a special solution which removes every trace of dirt, and blued to a deep black color.  Finally we reassemble and function test the gun.  The result is a gun which in most cases looks "better than new".

GUN KOTING

Gun Koting is a fairly new operation that offers the best protection against rust, while giving one of the best looks in gunmetal!  Gun Kote is a thin, hard coating that is resistant against most chemicals, provides excellent wear life, and has surpassed a rigorous 500 hour Salt-Spray chamber test.

All Colors are available in a light Matte Finish

High Quality Doubles

Over the years, we have developed & refined a system for faithfully duplicating the original metal finishes on high grade doubles.  This includes duplicating the direction of polishing lines and other characteristics that were done during original manufacture.  For example: we can take an original Parker, and if it's not too far gone, we can refinish to a degree that will make it a "Seasoned" Parker collector to recognize that it's been refinished.  The finished result does depend somewhat on how good or how bad the gun was when brought to us.  Total price for hand finishing all metal, color case hardening and bluing to original colors...Please call for quote.

Technical Information On Rebluing

-What is rebluing?  Without getting into a lot of technical terms, bluing is sort of a

"Controlled Rust".  We polish the gun to a silver color, boil it in solutions to make it "Squeaky

Clean", and very susceptible to rust.  Then we place it in boiling chemicals that rapidly rust the

metal.  When the metal turns to an attractive blue color, we remove it and "Chemically Halt"

the rusting action.  Once halted in this manner, it is extremely difficult for rust to re-start again.

This resistance to future rust is what protects your gun in later years, of course, you can abuse

the gun enough to make rusting action re-start, but under normal use and proper care it will

not rust again.  This is the exact same process used by all the major gun companies on new

guns.  Bluing does not add metal to your gun like chrome plating does.  The durability of

bluing depends entirely on the roughness of metal surface.  If you order our high gloss blue,

the surface is so smooth that it will wear through the bluing in field use much faster than our

normal bluing.  If you order the course "Sand Blasted" finish (like military parkerizing), it will

stand up to much heavier wear than normal bluing.

-Double Barrels  Conventional bluing attacks the solder on doubles and causes damage. We ONLY offer Slow-rust bluing for double barrels.

-We Cannot Reblue  Aluminum, copper, brass, plastic, chrome plated guns,  receivers that

were originally color case hardened, and iron plated guns.

-We Cannot Reblue  guns that are disassembled.  This is because we want to function

test before and after rebluing.  Also, we want to avoid being blamed if parts are missing when

you re-assemble.  We can make an exception to this if you provide a written inventory of the

  parts you are sending.

-Delivery  on rebluing averages 1 month to 2 months.
