- Shooter's  Roundup-

-August 22 -23, 2009-

-9am- 5pm both days-

THE GREATEST SHOOTING SHOW ON EARTH----

Each year, on the 4th weekend of August,  Ahlman's put on the greatest shooting show you'll ever see:  SHOOTER'S ROUNDUP.   Here's a brief list of what takes place:

FACTORY GUN TESTING...Nearly all the major gun companies set up test ranges where YOU can personally test fire their guns. Many offer free shooting, some charge for ammo.

EXOTIC GUN TESTING...Ever had the urge to shoot a machine gun, or a .50 cal? How about blasting a Chevy with a Browning A-4 or knock out one of Saddam's tanks with a 25 mm anti-tank gun?  You can do all this (legally) at Shooter's Roundup.

WILDERNESS HUNT...Our most popular event. You'll face 15 challenges that demand proficiency with shotgun, rifle, handgun, bow, knife (and a few others we toss in to keep you awake). Score high and win guns and other valuable prizes.

PRIZE HUNT...If you don't care for the physical demands of the wilderness hunt, try our prize hunt. Locate all 15 sites and qualify for valuable prizes.

OLD WEST MELODRAMA...You'll cry when Sweet Sally is gunned down. You'll gasp when cowboys fall from the rooftops. You'll applaud when the posse gets Black Bart. You'll love this half hour show with it's cast of 20. Two shows daily.

TRICK SHOOTING SHOW...This one hour show will put you on the edge of your chair as you stare in disbelief at the impossible shots done by our trick shooter. Famous name performers such as BILL OGLESBY, TOM KNAPP and JOHN

SATTERWHITE will dazzle you with their performance.  One show daily.

SHOPPING FOR SHOOTING...There's over 150 vendors at Shooters Roundup for you to check out.  And...if you don't find what you're looking for, check out Ahlman's Gun Store which has over 3,000 guns on display.

WHAT'S IT COST?...Here's the good part. Admission is only $7. for both days. You won't find another show this side of the Mississippi that offers this much entertainment for only seven bucks. Of course, if you test fire every single gun, enter every contest and pork out at all the food stands, you can run up the tab a bit.  But...you'll have a blast doing it.

WHEN?...This year's event will be held Aug. 22 & 23.  Gates open at 9AM and close at 5. Be sure to come early because it takes all day to see everything. For more details, call us at (507) 685-4243 and we'll mail you a flyer.

OTHER SHOOTING ACTIVITIES AT AHLMAN’S

--------------------------------------------------------------

RIFLE/PISTOL PLINKING & SIGHT-INS

Got a new rifle or pistol to test?  Or you’ve cooked up a new handload you want to try? Ahlman’s rifle & pistol range features firing points of 30, 60, 100 & 200 yards.  Shooting hours are 9 to 5 Mon. – Sat. with a fee of $7 per shooter. The BEST DEAL is the annual membership for $30. Besides unlimited use, you receive a key that will give you access to the range after store hours and Sundays.

SHOTGUN- TRAP SHOOTING

Converting clay birds into small black puffs of smoke is a thrill you’ll never tire of. The Morristown Gun Club’s trap range will be open to the public almost every Thur. night and Sun. afternoon from April through Sept. and a few Sundays in winter. All you have to do is grab your shotgun and show up. Instruction for beginners is available at every shoot.  If driving long distance, phone (507) 685-4578 to confirm dates.

WOBBLE TRAP (CRAZY CLAYS)

Imagine a trap machine gone crazy that flings clay birds where you least expect them to go.   Your score sheet will look a bit wobbly after 25 shots, but you’ll have great fun and become a crack shot on ducks & pheasants.  Sponsored by the Morristown Gun Club, the wobble trap is open the same hours as trapshooting. Grab some friends and put a team together for league competition or just come out and shoot for the fun of it.

COWBOY ACTION SHOOTING

The timer starts and you go for your revolver.  After filling the bad guy full of lead, you grab your rifle, then your shotgun and blast the rest of the James Gang. When the timer stops, you’ll have a grin on your face that’s wider than Rosie O’Donnell.  It’s called Cowboy Action Shooting.

The Cedar Valley Vigilantes have matches twice a month behind Ahlman's.

For more information about the Cedar Valley Vigilantes, go to

www.cedarvalleyvigilantes.com

COWBOY ACTION SEMINARS

Want to learn more about this exciting sport?  The Cedar Valley Vigilantes will host seminars in April, June and July. For exact dates, check the above website. The one hour seminars will be held in the Mammoth Inn and start at 9 AM. No appointment or equipment is necessary.  Just show up.  The seminar is free but there’s a $5 ammo fee if you choose to shoot the practice course.

PRIMITIVE WEAPON RE-ENACTMENTS

Want to experience history firsthand?  How about flinging atlatl spears at a stone age bison, hurling tomahawks, shooting flintlocks or stalking deer on a 3-D archery range?  Or maybe you prefer something less stressful like tanning furs, napping arrowheads or spending the night in an Indian tipi.  You can do all this and more at any of the buckskinner rendezvous camp-outs at Ahlman’s.  For details and dates, call Mike Gordon (507) 383-1791   mikegordon44@yahoo.com

PAINTBALL GAMES

Swimming in sweat and swatting mosquitoes, you stealthily crawl through the thick swamp grass while sneaking up to an enemy fortification.  Suddenly, out of nowhere, a machine gun chatters and riddles your camouflage uniform with blotches of paint.  You've lost. As you grab your paint gun and sadly walk back to camp, a strange feeling will suddenly hit you and you’ll shout, “WOW! That was fun!”

The paintball club will host several camps this year at Ahlman’s. If you’re in great physical shape, it’s a sport you must try.  Membership is currently at capacity, but if you call (507) 685-4243 we'll get you on the waiting list and you’ll be shooting soon.

A HANDLE ON ROVER

When you ask your dog to flush a pheasant or fetch the mail, does he just sit and look at you?   When you tell him to get a duck, does he bring back the neighbor’s cat?  Bring your dog to one of the FREE training sessions at Ahlman’s.  You’ll be surprised to find that Rover is a lot smarter than you thought.  Under the expert guidance of Ed Fritz (professional trainer) you’ll learn to work with your own dog and teach him new skills.  To sign up for the next free class, give Ed a call @ (507) 685-2710

Please call to confirm dates if driving a long distance-

OFFICIAL RULES

WILDERNESS HUNT SHOOTING EVENT AT SHOOTERS ROUNDUP

With over 700 participants, Wilderness Hunt has grown to be the largest shooting match in Minnesota. The majority participate for the sheer fun of the event, but a small number go for the top prize.  Believe it or not, there are a few who are so skilled in every shooting sport, that they've occasionally "aced" the course.

If you're one of the majority who participate in the event "just for the fun of it," there's no need to read further. But if you're going for top prize, read the following rules VERY CAREFULLY as they are strictly enforced for top performers.

TALKING.....Do not talk at stations that have a quiz. Scorer could give you a "no" for giving out answers.

SCRIBBLED OR CHANGED SCORES...YOU are responsible for a scoresheet that clearly shows yes or no with correct initials. If scorer goofs, it's YOUR responsibility to ask scorer to correct and SIGN the correction.

MULLIGAN....You can select (1) of the (15) stations, skip it and receive a "yes." You must tell scorer to mark it mulligan and initial it BEFORE you shoot.

ENTERING TWICE...It's OK to go through the course a 2nd time, collect ammo prizes twice, but...only your 1st entry counts for top prizes. When turning in 2nd entry, tell scorekeeper to mark it PRACTICE (and initial it). Failure to do so will disqualify your 1st entry.

PRACTICE...Some stations allow practice before shooting for score. Be certain to clarify this with scorer BEFORE shooting for score or you might receive a "No."

TIEBREAKER...If your score is 10 or higher, go to station #16. (smallbore shoot-off). There you'll shoot a 22 rifle at an NRA paper target with 11 bullseyes. First, shoot #11 (center) bullseye for practice, then 1 shot at each of the 10 scoring bullseyes. Sign your target and turn it in to scorekeeper with your entry form.
